Cupar CC join Forces with Fife Curling Trust
Fife Curling Trust (FCT) have revealed their plans for a new 4 sheet Curling Rink situated in DuffusPark, Cupar.
Significantly, the FCT have forged a partnership with Cupar Cricket Club (CCC), who will share the facility in the summer months and will use the building for changing, clubhouse & storage facilities. This will give the rink year round activity and revenue. It is felt by both partners that their respective sports will benefit greatly from having such a central new facility in such a fabulous location.
The rink will be directly adjacent to both Elmwood College and Bell Baxter High School, with youth development being a main objective of both the FCT and CCC. Both organisations plan to take coaching into the college and schools to expand participation among the younger age groups.
Timescales have been announced, with a SportScotland application due to be lodged in May 09 with a detailed planning application to be put forward in June 09. All going well construction should begin spring 2010 with the opening of the facility in Sept 2010.
